I am a native of Limestone County. I grew up in the East Limestone community and attended high school there. After completing my degree at Auburn University, I lived and worked in Auburn for several years. WAR EAGLE!! Today, I live in the East Limestone area on my family's farm land. I am blessed to have three wonderful daughters: Ana, Maria and Sara. Ana is a recent graduate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and currently lives in our nation's capital. Maria and Sara are both students at East Limestone High School. Being a mother is the most rewarding role I will ever have. Our family also includes two dogs (Bambi and Gus) and two cats (Aubie and Charlie).
My daughters keep me very busy with dance classes, homework, and life in general. When I have free time, I enjoy reading and working in the yard.
I have been an educator for over 21 years. My teaching experience includes first, third and fifth grades. I enjoyed teaching at all these levels. The children at each level are a joy and have unique qualities that make that grade a pleasure to teach. The Johnson faculty and students honored me with the recognition of Teacher of the Year during the 2002 - 2003 school year. In 2003, I received National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist and renewed my certification in 2013. My previous teaching assignment was Reading Coach at Johnson Elementary. This gave me experience working with the teachers modeling best practices lessons, providing staff development, and collaborating with the reading teachers. I also held the position of Designated Assistant Principal while working at Johnson Elementary. This position allowed me to gain valuable experience in administration duties working with experienced administrators.
Auburn University: Bachelor of Science in Education
University of North Alabama: Master of Arts in Educational Administration
Samford University: Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration
I am a lifelong learner through professional reading and attending conferences to further my knowledge. The students and teachers that I work with also teach me valuable lessons on a daily basis! I am blessed to be a part of a wonderful group of people.
If I can ever be of assistance to you, don't hesitate to contact me. Only through collaboration between parents and the school can our students be successful.
